Paying your teacher

For families · Last updated October 16, 2026

Your teacher uses Pydia to send invoices and take card payments. Depending on what your teacher offers, you can pay with ESA funds through ClassWallet, by card, or by card each month. Payments go to your teacher, not to Pydia.

Paying with ESA funds

Your teacher emails you an invoice for each child as a PDF. To pay it from your child's ESA account:

  1. Go to adeconnect.azed.gov and sign in with your ADE login.
  2. Click Applications, then ESA Applicant Portal.
  3. Click Go to ClassWallet Account.
  4. Click Pay for Services.
  5. Search for your teacher's name and upload the invoice. ClassWallet fills in the amount and description.
  6. Fill in your name, choose Curriculum as the expense category, then review and submit.

The same steps are in every invoice email. Once ESA staff approve it, ClassWallet pays your teacher directly. You don't pay anything out of pocket.

Already submitted it? Pydia sends a reminder a few days after the invoice, and another a week later. Each one has a link to tell your teacher you already submitted it. Using it stops the reminders.

Paying by card

Some teachers let you pay by card instead:

After every card payment you get a receipt by email, and the payment shows on your dashboard. If you plan to claim ESA reimbursement for a card payment, keep the receipt.

Monthly payments

If your teacher offers monthly payments, you pay the first month when you sign up, then your card is charged on the teacher's billing day each month until the class ends or you cancel. Before you pay, you'll see the exact amount and day you're agreeing to.

Your dashboard

Your Pydia dashboard shows your classes, upcoming sessions, invoices, card payments and receipts. You don't need a password: every email from your teacher has a button to it, and Pydia emails you a sign-in link that works once, for one hour.

Questions about a payment

Reply to any email from your teacher and it goes straight to them. Refunds and payment arrangements are between you and your teacher.
